What is Spyware?

Identity Theft is one of the fastest-growing crimes of this century.  In today’s world, PC users have become increasingly vulnerable to privacy invasions through the installation of adware spyware that has been placed on their computer without their knowledge.

Spyware applications are programs and files that hide on your PC's hard drive without your direct knowledge.

These programs allow hackers and advertising companies to track your every move, both online and even when you work offline. They can track the websites you visit, the items that you buy online, the emails you send and receive, your Instant Message dialog, and worst of all they can even record your credit card number, personal identification numbers, and all of your passwords.

If you use dial-up to connect to the Internet then spyware can be used to bill 900 numbers to your phone bill. This is just a short list of the harm that spyware can cause.

All of your data is traveling through the Internet to parties that are waiting to capitalize on your information without your consent and is being sold to companies and people right now!  In some cases anything ever done on your computer can be watched.  The online world is no longer safe without an anti-Spyware application to protect your PC.

How does Spyware get on my computer?

If your Internet security controls aren’t properly set, just visiting a Web site or clicking on a Web ad can install an app.  According to a recent report from research firm GartnerG2, more than 20 million people have installed adware applications (‘adware’ being a type of spyware that reports back on a person’s activities to serve up targeted advertising), and this covers only a portion of the Spyware on the loose.

Some companies use ‘key loggers’, which allows them to see your every keystroke.  Still others let hackers not only track your behavior but even take control of your PC.

Spyware can reach your PC without your knowledge or explicit approval.  This is always the case with ‘ad cookies’.  More worrying are applications that install themselves on the sly.  Some are disguised as something useful.  In all likelihood, you willingly installed much of your spyware yourself when downloading another application.

The best way to protect against spyware is to run an application that identifies and removes it.  These tools operate much like anti-virus software.  Their developers have identified hundreds of spyware files, folders and Registry keys and search for them on your hardware, offering to remove them when they turn up.  If you treasure your privacy, these tools are essential.  Even if you locate spyware on your own, manually deleting it is difficult and can be very tedious.  Some spyware includes ‘tricklers’ which reinstall files as you delete them.  An anti-spyware program is more likely to be able to eliminate the offenders.

There are numerous programs for removing Spyware.  A program I use is Spyware Nuker.  I've found it to be very effective.  You can download it FREE and scan your computer to see if it is infected.

Defeat the threat by detecting and removing:

  • Spyware and adware that "phones home" information about
you, your computer, and your surfing habits

  • Remote access trojans (RATs) that allow an attacker to
    remotely control your computer

  • Keyloggers that can steal passwords and other
    confidential data

  • Denial-of-service (DoS) attack agents that can crash or
hang a program, or your entire system

Frightened? You should be. This has been going on for years now right under your nose, secretly. The Spyware Epidemic is growing by leaps and bounds.  The scariest part is that all of it is legal!

Over 95% of PCs have Spyware!  You'll be shocked to discover what has already been installed on your PC without your knowledge!  You can check your PC for Spyware Now by downloading Spyware Nuker and scan your PC Free.
